Tyler Hynes On Why The Groomsmen Trilogy On Hallmark+ ‘Like Sex and the City for Dudes’

The upcoming The Groomsmen rom-com trilogy is set to premiere on Hallmark+ later in October. Relating to the movies, Tyler Hynes opened up at the People and Hallmark Media Countdown Sexiest Man Alive event with his fellow cast members of The Groomsmen and Finding Mr. Christmas in New York City.

Tyler Hynes, Jonathan Bennett and B.J. Britt fans are looking forward to the new Hallmark+ movie trilogy, The Groomsmen and at an event in New York City, Tyler opened up about his new movie trilogy with his co-stars, Bennett and Britt. He said the movie trilogy reminds him of the popular series, Sex and the City.

Hynes, 38, was asked what it was like working on a “gay love story that’s a friends-to-lovers story on Hallmark.” He was quick to respond, saying:

It’s not Sex in the City, but it kind of feels like Sex and City for dudes, which I realized watching Sex and the City when I was in Europe and I was going, ‘Oh, we’re making that.’

The popular Hallmark star spoke of the importance of friendship that is revealed in the movie trilogy, saying, “It distills that dynamic of our elected family, which so much of us experience now being away from our family, probably living in New York, or families back home, wherever,”  adding:

Your friends become your family. They become the people who hold you up through all of these moments in our lives. It captures that feeling while doing so, telling a very lovely, diverse group of stories with a really diverse cast and doing it earnestly without feeling like there was an agenda.

The new Hallmark+ trilogy of movies follows the lives and romantic relationships of three best friends of different backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations.

Pete (Britt) is a kind-hearted pediatrician who loves making plans. Danny (Bennett) is an ex-jock with a heart of gold, while Jackson (Hynes), is a stylish social media agent. According to the synopsis, together they each find love and wedded bliss in stunning locations like Bulgaria, Greece, and Italy.

Meanwhile, Mean Girls alum, Jonathan Bennett spoke to People at the San Diego Com-Con in July. He noted that the movie trilogy is “the first time we’ve had a gay wedding on Hallmark as the lead storyline,” adding:

Playing the character of Danny in The Groomsmen — not only are we telling a story of friendship and love, but telling a story about a wedding.

When does The Groomsmen trilogy premiere on Hallmark+?

The Groomsmen trilogy is set to premiere in October on Hallmark+, with The Groomsmen: First Look airing on October 17. The second movie in the trilogy is The Groomsmen: Second Chances, which premieres on October 24. The third movie, The Groomsmen: The Last Dance is set to air on October 31.
