Hallmark Channel When Calls The Heart spoilers and updates tease there will be challenges ahead for Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) in season thirteen. With Hallmark’s renewal of the beloved series, new showrunner Joy Gregory has hinted at what these passionate Hearties can look forward to.
Season Twelve Ended On A Thrilling Cliffhanger
The end of WCTH Season 12 left viewers on a suspenseful note. Elizabeth and Little Jack Thornton (Hyland Goodrich) had to hurry to Cape Fullerton, but Nathan and Allie Grant (Jaeda Lily Miller) managed to catch up with them before they departed from Hope Valley. Filming for Season 13 is set to begin this summer, and fans are eager to see what happens next.
Joy Gregory, the new showrunner, recently discussed Elizabeth and Nathan’s relationship in light of Little Jack’s diabetes diagnosis. She expressed her excitement about their journey to Cape Fullerton, highlighting the new experiences awaiting them.
What Will Happen In This New Location?
This trip was encouraged by Jack’s grandmother, Charlotte Thornton (Brooke Shields), who mentioned that the area has a great treatment center for Jack’s condition.
Gregory discussed what Elizabeth and Nathan will face in their new situation; she mentioned, ‘They will co-parent a child with a chronic illness.’
However, she emphasized that they won’t focus too much on the boy’s illness, but will acknowledge it and how it may affect Elizabeth.
Joy Gregory also noted that this experience will impact the Hope Valley teacher. ‘This is a chance for Elizabeth to grow through challenges, as well as through love and sharing her struggles with Nathan.
No Engagement Or Wedding Is Mentioned
She expressed her excitement about their relationship developing during difficult times, however, there is no mention of an engagement or wedding.
Fans of Team Nathan who have been hoping to see Elizabeth and Nathan marry in the Hope Valley or Cape Fullerton churches may need to be patient. It seems the couple will have more chances to strengthen their bond.
This year, Season 12 of When Calls The Heart started in early January, leading many fans to wish for a Season 13 release later this year. Sadly, that won’t be happening.
Season Thirteen Will Premiere In 2026

Nathan and Elizabeth fans have been waiting going on 8 seasons for this ship to sail. Sadly, I will not be tuning in to s13 of WCTH. I’m beyond weary of the stalling and games the show and Hallmark choose to play with fans. There are better and much richer stories that can be told within the context of a committed blended family made official by marriage. These characters are not 20 somethings. They are approaching 40. In 1921, it was not realistic for an unmarried couple to call themselves a family, especially with children involved. In fact, it was unheard of. Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry have mesmerizing chemistry. They could bring compelling stories to life on the screen if they could ever be allowed. Quite frankly, Elizabeth and Nathan have had enough obstacles and deserve some joy. Allie was brought to Hope Valley at age 10. She has been desirous of a mom and sibling. 7 years later, she is still w/o either. Jack is nearing age 7, and he is w/o a doting dad. How is WCTH considered a family show? This is the only show I have ever watched that doesn’t have a vision for its leading lady. What a shame…both for fans and the actors.
It i time to stop playing games and get Nathan and Elizabeth together. They have been together long enpugh to finally become a family. All the teasing and and problems are enough. It is time they get together and get married and become a family
