According to a network spokesperson, “The ninth and current season of ‘Home & Family will be the series’ last…”

When Calls The Heart Recap – Lucas Bouchard Breaks Up With Elizabeth Thorton
Back in When Calls The Heart, Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) may no longer need to choose between Lucas Bouchard (Chris MacNally) and Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) since the former has decided to let her go. As seen in the 11th episode, Lucas has seen Elizabeth grow closer to Nathan. As the two spend more time together, Lucas has noticed how Elizabeth has been giving him the cold shoulder. So, he decided to drop by her home late at night and let her know how he felt.
Elizabeth, you’ve always maintained that love is worth fighting for. And that includes when it needs defending. … I appreciate your telling me that you took Nathan aside to assure him that he wasn’t to blame for Jack’s death,” Lucas said.

“But I have to admit, I witnessed the discussion. I also noticed his horse here the other day. And while I’m not resentful, from what I’ve seen and from what you’ve told me, I believe that you and Nathan, still…” he continued.
“Love is not just an emotion. It’s also an act of will. It can’t be demanded. It can’t be forced. I want you to find your true love. And in order to do that, I want … I need … to set you free,” he added.
