Faith and Carson meet for breakfast. He teases her, calling her a doctor. She is excited about the possibility. Meanwhile, Nathan brings his dad breakfast in his prison cell while Allie shows up on Elizabeth’s doorstep. She cannot stay with her uncle anymore, she is mad he arrested her grandfather and he won’t let her see him.

Jessie asks Kevin to be his best man. Callie isn’t happy. They agree Rosemary and Lee would be their maid of honor and best man.

Elizabeth visits Nathan to tell him about Allie. He says he will talk to her after church. Nathan finds Allie after church and she isn’t budging on seeing her grandfather. Back at the jail, Bill questions Nathan’s father about the necklace. Allie and Elizabeth sit and talk. She thinks her grandfather is innocent. Nathan questions Lucas about how his father has been staying above the saloon.

Bill reports back to Nathan. His father swears he didn’t take the necklace. Nathan decides to head to Benson Hills to learn more. They are looking into his dad’s crime.

Lucas asks Elizabeth about her writing. She reluctantly decides to let him read what she has so far. Nathan approaches them. Lucas leaves. Nathan tells Elizabeth he is headed out. She agrees to watch Allie. He thanks her.

Allie and Elizabeth talk about her mom. She doesn’t know much about her. She was just 4 when she died. That is why she needs her grandfather. He can tell her more. Elizabeth tells her how her uncles always talk about her, he is proud. Allie shares that Nathan also talks about Elizabeth a lot too. Elizabeth is interested in what he says. The baby cries, interrupting them.

Faith gets news that she only needs 2 classes to start training under Carson to become a doctor. The only problem is, the classes are full. She can’t take them until next year when they run again.

At Benson Hills, Nathan assists with the investigation as it seems like they aren’t being very thorough. Meanwhile, Carson consoles Faith. It is only a year.

During lunch, Allie takes off to the jail to hear her grandfather tell stories. Elizabeth shows up. She takes Allie back to school, reassuring her that her uncle will get down to the bottom of whether he is innocent or not.

Faith gets a call back that she can take her classes right away but in Chicago. Nathan gets back to jail in town and confronts his dad. It was his old prison cellmate who stole the necklace.

Jessie and Clara talk more about their wedding. It seems they both have been making changes, diverting from what they originally talked about.

Nathan lets her father out of jail and tells him to see if his room at the saloon is still available. Elizabeth sees them. She runs to Nathan who shares that his dad is innocent. She is glad everything worked out.

Carson tells Faith he thinks she should go after he gives her an old anatomy book of his from college.

Lucas tracks down Elizabeth to tell her he thinks her work so far is great. Meanwhile, Bill is offended that Lucas is handling Clara’s wedding cake and food. She tells him he will be too busy – he needs to walk her down the aisle. He is thrilled. They hug.

Nathan and Allie say goodbye to her grandfather. He has a job waiting and a better life to work on. He hands her some letters. They are stories about her mom. They hug goodbye. Nathan apologizes to his dad before he leaves.
