When Calls The Heart S11 Canadian Teaser Is Missing Lucas?

Since the season 10 finale cliffhanger, Hallmark viewers have been waiting for the season 11 trailer of When Calls the Heart. While American and other viewers wait impatiently, Canadian Hearties have already enjoyed a teaser for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, fans noticed that while many of the cast are included in the video, Chris McNally’s character, Lucas Bouchard is missing. What is happening?

Why is Lucas missing from the When Calls the Heart season 11 teaser?

This week, Hearties watched a teaser trailer for When Calls the Heart season, via the Canadian Super Channel Heart & Home. The clip reveals flashes of the cast, starting with Bill (Jack Wagner) and Rosemary (Pascale Hutton). The pair can be seen talking to Nathan (Kevin McGarry) and they all look concerned. Fans wonder if this relates to the water problem, or is there a new crisis in town.

Next, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) is sitting on a bench chatting to Nathan. Fans immediately noted that she has a new bob hairstyle. This scene is followed by a peek at the daily life in Hope Valley, including Mike Hickam (Ben Rosenbaum) and Mei Sou (Amanda Wong) in a conversation and Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller, running to hug her dad. Moreover, these scenes are followed by individual shots of cast members, including a group shot.

Meanwhile, the teaser ends with Rosemary and Lee’s baby Goldie blowing out candles on her new first birthday cake. There is clearly a time jump in the new season, as fans will recall she was still small back in season 10. Moreover, taglines relating to the teaser include “Unlock the romance” and “Unlock the hope.

While it is great to get a glimpse into season 11, one very important cast member is missing from the clip.

Where is Chris McNally?

Why is Chris McNally missing from the teaser? Could it be that the newly-elected governor will only be in Hope Valley part-time or is there another reason for his absence?

However, even though McNally is absent from the teaser, this doesn’t necessarily mean he is not coming back as Lucas Bouchard. Fans will recall that Erin Krakow spoke to ET about Chris McNally and she was adamant that he is not leaving the popular Hallmark series. Krakow said:

We’re not gonna [sic] lose Chris McNally. I mean, he’s fantastic. I can’t imagine that. Our show just grew and changed when we brought in Kevin and Chris.

Moreover, Erin also said that WCTH season 11 will quickly address the storyline of “Lucas being in jeopardy.” Hopefully, this means that he will be back in Hope Valley again. However, does the brief teaser mean that McNally’s character, Lucas Bouchard is only a recurring cast member in When Calls the Heart and no longer a series regular on the show?
