Nathan didn’t cause Jack’s death but that still didn’t make the secret any less painful or shocking. She began spending a lot more time with Lucas and the two became very close. There is no question that Lucas is a good man. However, Elizabeth’s quandary is if he is the right man for her.

The Sudden Nathan Grant Turnaround

When Calls the Heart season 8 finale spoilers reveal that in the blink of an eye, Elizabeth made a realization. While giving advice to someone else, she had an epiphany and went to see Nathan. She let him know that she doesn’t blame him for Jack’s death. We also had the pre-wedding game of Elizabeth having to choose which man she was meant to be with. Lucas might have been on her mind and the tip of her tongue, but the hands she held belonged to Nathan. Even though Elizabeth could go in either direction on Sunday, it is looking more likely that she chooses Nathan.

So, what if Elizabeth chooses to be with Nathan? What does that mean for Lucas’s future? It was confirmed by the creator that both Nathan and Lucas will still have stories to tell. We fully expect season 9 to happen. So, don’t expect Lucas to go anywhere, even if Nathan ends up being the man Elizabeth chooses. Plus, the synopsis teases the following:

“In the season eight finale of ‘When Calls the Heart’ Elizabeth has finally realized who she’s meant to be within ‘The Kiss,’ premiering Sunday, May 9 (9 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel. Big changes are coming to Hope Valley. The town rallies together to say goodbye and good luck to one of their own.”
