Back in April, Hearties finally got the news they had been waiting for. The Hallmark Channel renewed the popular television series, meaning we will get season 8 of our fan-favorites in Hope Valley.

However, one month earlier, most productions were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. This wasn’t just in the United States and Canada, but in many other counties across the globe as well.

Many have been allowed to go back to work, but only if certain safety guidelines are met. When Calls The Heart is no exception and every precaution is being made to keep the cast and crew safe.

Hallmark Channel News – Production Restart Date

When Calls The Heart will film again in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on July 20, Global News reported. There are strict and regulated protocols that must be adhered to and the production has a specific safety plan in place. The government’s Phase 3 guidelines state that social distancing is one rule, as well as improved cleaning.

There will also be a limited number of people on set at one time, which echoes what other productions are doing. We are seeing the same thing with The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, Coronation Street, and Eastenders.

There are certain scenes that will be a bit challenging. For example, romantic scenes and fighting will become “extra challenging.” Phil Klapwyk represents over 9,000 BC and Yukon artists with IATSE Local 981. He explained,

“It’s very risky in a lot of ways. The actors are the most vulnerable because obviously when they’re doing that, they can’t be wearing personal protective equipment. WorkSafeBC protocols allow actors the right to refuse close contact with other performers, such as hugging, kissing, and stunts requiring close contact.”
