Krakow confirmed that When Calls the Heart has started filming for season 9 on July 21. The actress has been with the show since it premiered its first season back in 2014.

“It’s a wonderful feeling being back on set with the amazing cast and crew,” the actress said in a statement.

“There are a lot more stories to tell this season and thanks to the talented writing staff, there will be more drama, adventure, and romance and we can’t wait for our fans to see what Hope Valley has in store,” Krakow teased.

When Calls The Heart Season 9 Spoilers – 12 Episodes for Season 9

The first 7 seasons of When Calls the Heart had 10 episodes and one Christmas special. The show expanded its season 8 to 12 episodes in 2020 but without the Christmas special. The ninth season will also have 12 episodes and there’s no update yet if there will be a holiday special this year. Hallmark Channel renewed the show for another season in May 2021 and season 9 is expected to air in 2022.

Martin Cummins also posted an update from the Jamestown Movie Set. The actor shared that his character, Henry Gowen, will return to Hope Valley after leaving town in the season 9 finale.

In his Instagram post where he shared a snap of him, the actor captioned, “Just tell me where to stand. Back at it this week. #whencallstheheart #hearties.”

Chris McNally looks forward to his character developing a closer relationship with Elizabeth’s (Erin Krakow) son, Jack. The actor said he’s excited to work with the Taylor twins and he’s looking forward to his character taking on a more father figure role.

Some fans wondered why Lucas didn’t have that many scenes with Jack. McNally revealed that they filed one but it got cut. In the scene, “Lucas gave little Jack, I think it was a toy dog or something like that,” the actor said.
