When Calls the Heart Spoilers: Will There Be a Season 8? Creator Hints Show Future Uncertain

When Calls the Heart season 7 airs the finale on April 26, 2020. Normally, it would already be known if the show was going to be renewed or canceled by now. However, series creator Brian Bird indicated that the future of WCTH is uncertain. He also asked “Hearties” to unite and make it known that fans want another season of the Hallmark TV show.

Previous Renewal Came Early

During season 6, a renewal for the popular TV show was announced after the third episode had aired. However, Hallmark Channel was trying to smooth the bumps created by Lori Loughlin’s college admissions scandal. In fact, it led to her being dismissed from When Calls the Heart.

There is also a lot going on in the entertainment industry right now. With filming halted for many TV shows and movies, some decisions are being postponed as well. While it is concerning that we don’t know if the WCTH will continue, we just might need to be patient. There is a lot of data that has to be considered when renewal and cancelation decisions are made.

WCTH Season 7 Ratings

According to Good Housekeeping, the season 7 premiere had the highest ratings since the show first aired in 2014. That is a great sign that viewers are still in love with the characters and stories.

It seems that the creator would love for the story to go on. On social media, he created the hashtag #Season8WouldBeGreat and asked fans to rally together for renewal.

When Calls the Heart Season 7 Finale: Story Not Finished Yet?

One good reason to renew the show is that some mysteries will remain unsolved by the time the season finale airs. Bird hinted that the season finale might not answer the question of which man Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) wants to share her future with.

Pascale Hutton Teased When Calls the Heart Season 8

While a renewal has not been announced yet, one actor seemed to suggest that the show might have a season 8. Pascale Hutton, who portrays Rosemary Coulter seemed to imply that there could be another season. Or at least that is what she is hoping. The actress recently told My Devotional Thoughts,

“Whether that’s moving ahead and adopting a child or whether a miracle happens and they are able to conceive. Or whether they find something else that they’re able to be equally passionate about and invested in that doesn’t involve a child. I just really think that we need to see the two of them consciously make a decision to move towards something on that topic. And that’s what my hope is for season eight.”
