Why is Cameron Mathison missing from One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery?

Throughout the Hannah Swensen movie series, Mathison plays Mike, a detective who helps Hannah solve mysteries. Moreover, he becomes the baker’s love interest. Meanwhile, it was revealed by Mathison is no longer welcome in the mystery movies.

The reason for this is the fact that Cameron has signed a multi-year deal with Great American Media – Hallmark’s biggest rival – along with other stars.

Meanwhile, the in-story reason for why his character, Mike, is no longer in the movies is that he left for FBI training in Quantico.

When interviewed by TVLine, executive producer and lead female star of the series, Alison Sweeney said:

That was the decision we made for Mike.

Because I come from a [daytime] soaps background and I love the philosophy of “never say never.”

So you never know where Mike will turn up next. I love Cameron and I wish him all the best, but he decided to pursue a different career path so here we are.

Meanwhile, Hallmark explained that the decision to write off Mathison’s character was also impacted by the fact that he and Hannah do not end up together in the book series that inspired the movies.

Readers can watch One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, without Cameron Mathison on April 5, 2024 at 9 pm ET/PT on Hallmark Mystery.

I’ll miss C.M., but I also think their love story was getting stale.
