Luke Macfarlane stars as Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story
According to Futon Critic, Barbara Weaver (Miranda MacDougall, The Flash) was happy leading a traditional life in her conservative Ohio Amish community, with no modern conveniences.
However, her husband Eli (Macfarlane, Bros, Killjoys) was different and wanted things that were forbidden to him as an Amish man. Eli was lured by the temptations of women and technology and was leading a secret life with the online Alias, “Amish Stud.”
He used the app to meet up with women outside of his marriage bed and had many mistresses. Meanwhile, he had his pick of many curious women, fascinated by the Amish lifestyle. However, he often spoke to his mistresses about his desire to kill his wife, Barbara.
When Barbara is found dead from a shotgun wound, all eyes turn to Eli, but he has a rock-solid alibi. Meanwhile, investigators have nowhere to turn in their search for the killer, until they discover Eli has a secret cell phone.
Moreover, as their investigations continue, they are led to Barb Raber (Kirsten Vangsness, Criminal Minds). She is a married Conservative Mennonite who had been having an affair with Eli and was plotting with him to murder his wife. Ultimately, it is up to the detectives investigating the crime to get justice for Barbara Weaver.
The movie is based on Gregg Olsen and Rebecca Morris’ novel, A Killing in Amish Country: Sex, Betrayal and a Cold-Blooded Murder.
