Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” Trailer – What We Learned

“Hi Barbie,” “Hi Ken,”Hi Barbie,” “Hi Barbie, “Hi Barbie,” – I could literally do this all day, but don’t worry, there’s a method to this madness. Barbie Land is filled with lots of Barbies and Kens, but surprisingly, only one Allan.

Opening the trailer with the iconic Barbie ballerina stance minus the shoes, we’re introduced into a world that’s as fun as it is pink, and it is very pink. “She’s everything, he’s just Ken.”

“Barbie’s” Trailer Has So Many Cameos We Couldn’t Keep Up

Prior to this trailer dropping, we’d already known that appearing alongside the lead stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell and a host of others, but we didn’t know that Dua Lipa was “Mermaid Barbie.

I mean, girl can keep a secret. But that’s not the only thing we learned about this upcoming “Barbie” that’s based on Mattel Entertainment’s “Barbie.”

What We Learned From Greta Gerwig's “Barbie” Trailer

In between dance sequences, beach funtimes, and trash talking between two Kens, is a scene that hints at the type of suggestive humor we can expect from the movie. K

en tells Barbie, “I thought I might stay over tonight.” When Barbie asks why, he replies, “Because we’re girlfriend and boyfriend.” Barbie, in her usual happy nature, asks “to do what?” A few seconds of silence rolls by before Ken confesses, “I’m actually not sure.” Sure Ken (wink wink.)

Apart from giving us a glimpse into Barbie’s plastic-looking world, where her shoes and her cars look a bit small for a doll her size, and giving us the idea that the main Barbie and Ken characters leave Barbie Land for the normal world, no one can really say what the plot is going to be. Perhaps this is the reason there’s a lot of excitement currently surrounding the project, as fans share their hopes of seeing the movie in theaters immediately it drops on July 21.

And in case you’re wondering, there’s a Barbie that’s a president, a Barbie that’s a Nobel Prize winner, a Barbie that’s a diplomat, a Barbie that’s a doctor, but there’s “just Ken” and other Kens.
