From the moment it was announced that “No Time To Die” will be Daniel Craig’s last installment as James Bond to this very moment, people still get a kick out of conjecturing who the next James Bond will be.
The name with the most mentions, and of course most votes, was that of Idris Elba. Others regularly thrown into the mix include Regé Jean Page, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Holland and many others. Personally, I would have nominated Liam Neeson if he wasn’t above the age range.
Others who jokingly came forward to become the new face of the popular franchise include talk show hosts Piers Morgan and James Corden. The internet was a place of laughter to see the two TV personalities nominate themselves, but recent announcement could mean they have a shot at being the cool fictional spy. At least now they have time to get in shape.
Producer Says James Bond Hopefuls Shouldn’t Wait By the Phone
Responding to Entertainment Weekly’s question about when James Bond’s fans can reasonably hope to know the identity of the chosen actor that will fill Daniel Craig’s shoes, the producers surprised everyone by saying that they haven’t even thought about casting a replacement.
The super spy franchise’s producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson agreed that the thought of looking for a new James Bond is not a priority for them at the moment.
“We haven’t begun the hunt,” Broccoli told EW. “We’re going to be sort of sitting down and trying to figure out where the Bond series is going to go, and we need to do that first, to get a sense of that, before we start casting for the role. So we’ll start thinking about that sometime next year.”
For over-enthusiastic fans waiting to hear news of the casting, Broccoli advised them not to wait around for it.
What “James Bond’s” Producers Think Of Replacing Daniel Craig
Yes, while the producers always knew that replacing Daniel Craig, who played Bond in five different installments of the franchise starting with 2006’s “Casino Royale”, would be inevitable, they also knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
Not only because it’ll be hard finding someone to fill his shoes, but because they’ve already developed emotional attachments to Craig’s Bond and would be sad to see him go.
When Broccoli spoke with EW in 2019 about what it would mean for her and her fellow producer to embark on the search for a new 007, she admitted that the thought of replacing Craig isn’t something she’s come to terms with.

“I’m in denial, to be honest, about Daniel,” she said. “I can’t really confront that right now.”
Even though there seems to be no new installment of “James Bond” in sight, fans of the show can still manage with the upcoming documentary, “The Sound of 007”, which details the franchise’s music.
“It was a labor of love,” said Wilson. “We were thinking of something to do for the 60th anniversary, and we’d done different kinds of documentaries over the years, and the idea of doing a music one seemed to fit. So many great songs, and so many great performers, and so many great composers, it just seemed like the time.”
“The Sound Of 007” Premieres On Prime Video This October 5.
