Lucky Hank: Bob Odenkirk Scolds Students And A Goose In New Trailer

Bob Odenkirk has done it again in his newest film Lucky Hank. From “Breaking Bad,” to “Better Call Saul” or do we need to add “Nobody” to the list? Point is, whichever movie Bob stars in, he makes the most out of it. Now, his latest film also promises to be nothing short of spectacular.

“Lucky Hank” is an AMC comedy-drama film that was based on Richard Russo’s 1997 novel of the same title. Its trailer was released on Feb. 15 by AMC+ and will premiere on March 19 on both AMC and AMC+.

The film features Bob as William Henry “Hank” Devereaux Jr., who’s an English department chairman at a college, in Pennsylvania. Hank who doesn’t care about his students, and never attempts to teach them anything, picked offense after a student tells him that his book wasn’t in the school’s bookstore.

Hank didn’t take the jab well as he made sure to berate his students for that. Even back home, things aren’t cozy with his wife and daughter, and his wife made sure to tell him that he doesn’t belong there.

In the teaser trailer, Hank can be seen in a classroom full of students, moping at them as a bell rang signifying the end of a class. A female student told Hank, “Professor, you barely said anything in an hour and a half,” another male student chipped in, “Could you please, for once, say something? Your only novel isn’t even available in your own campus bookstore.”

The ridicule from the student brought Hank to his feet as he insulted the students saying, “The fact that you’re here means you’ve showed very little promise,” while adding, “You are here at Railton College, mediocrity’s capital!“

While at home, Hank has some family issues of his own to deal with, as his wife Lily (played by Mireille Enos) tells him, “I forgot, you aren’t capable of leaving this town, for reasons only fully understood by your therapist,” to which Hank replied, “I’m not going, my life is here.” Lily retorted, “You might not be coming with me,” she volleys back, “but you are not here either!”

Apparently, Hank is not at peace because trouble follows him everywhere. He was also seen putting his hands up to fight a goose, asking the goose, “Come on, you want a piece of this?”

In an interview with “Entertainment Weekly” Bob told the outlet that he relates well with his character Hank, he said, “He’s a cranky guy, but you like him.”

“[It’s like] you took a very fun show — like a Parks and Rec — and you said, ‘Let’s slow down and get to know these people and have their internal battles be a little bit more of the subject matter.’ It’s really a great mashup of comedy and the kind of drama that we’ve gotten to do on Better Call Saul and it’s become more prevalent in streaming shows, and I think it’ll be neat.”
