Major News Surfaces For A “Pirates Of The Caribbean” Reboot

For years, fans have been asking for a follow-up to the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” and while the news surrounding it has come and gone – remember the one that Margot Robbie would have helmed? – there’s now a clear answer for all those who want to hit the high seas once more.

Filming For A “Pirates of the Caribbean” Reboot Set To Begin Next Year With Completed Script

No, this is not one of those false alarms, and while we know shows have been cancelled right after a script has been completed and characters even announced, there’s a better chance of this happening as studio execs are said to be enthusiastic about the new project.

Major News Surfaces For A “Pirates Of The Caribbean” Reboot

Co-written by Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” reboot is set and ready to enter production, with reports saying filming could start next year in Australia and Vancouver, Canada. It will reportedly revolve around a young black woman named Anne.

While plot details are still under wraps, it will reportedly feature a young crew hunting for hidden treasure. No, we will likely not be seeing Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner, Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann and others.

As of yet, no character has been attached to the project, and the same goes for a director.

Sources say actress Ayo Edebiri is being eyed to play Anne, but it’s only just speculations at this point.

Before the whole “wife beater” controversy cloud began to taint Johnny Depp’s image, Disney was reportedly considering bringing the hit franchise back for a fifth run.

Unfortunately, fans ran a campaign at the time that resisted the idea of having a “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie without Depp’s Jack Sparrow. This supposedly put a kink in the works.

However, if you want a taste of the captain’s great and terrible adventures, you can stream all five movies on Disney+.
