Marvel Studios have finally released the Black Widow trailer. Most of the focus is on actress Scarlett Johansson, according to The Verge. She’s seen as a hero in the new film, which made its debut on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The Black Widow trailer has also made an emotional impact with fan of the beloved series. While the Avengers’ storyline has come to an end in Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow is a reminder that Marvel isn’t quite done with this character’s story yet.

Black Widow is one of the most highly anticipated films. The movie is said to take place in a two-year gap between Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War. While this is the first Black Widow trailer released to the public, a longer version was revealed at Disney’s D23 convention back in August. This trailer focused on Natasha Romanoff’s trip to Budapest. This location has been mentioned many times in the Avengers movies. There’s also a showdown between Romanoff and a woman named Yelena Belova.

Belova is known as the second Black Widow in the comics and is revealed as Romanoff’s sister in the trailer. Fans are going crazy over the trailer since they’ve been waiting for a Black Widow standalone film for nearly a decade. Marvel Studios Chief Executive Kevin Feige have hinted about the possibility of a Black Widow standalone film ever since 2010. Scarlett Johansson first made her debut as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. Feige and other Marvel executives have stated throughout the years that they’re interested in focusing on Black Widow.

Johansson is the latest actress to become a solo superhero. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, and Robert Downey Jr. all have their own standalone movies in the Marvel Universe. Mark Ruffalo is the only Avengers cast member who hasn’t had his own Hulk movie since Universal Pictures still owns the right to the any Hulk standalone films. Instead, Feige and Marvel Studios have created a three-arc picture for Ruffalo’s character throughout Endgame, Infinity War, and Thor: Ragnarok.

The Black Widow trailer has also made an emotional impact on fans. Just seeing the Black Widow in a movie all her own is enough to make someone emotional. There’s something about the trailer that shows the power that Romanoff holds and a power that MCU has never explored before. It holds incredible meaning for fans who want to get to know her character. In the trailer, she’s heard saying, “I’m done running from my past.”

Black Widow is the first of Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 when it the film drops in theaters on May 1, 2020. The Eternals should follow shortly thereafter. What are your thoughts on the Black Widow trailer? Sound off below in the comments section.
