Rumored Casting Reports For ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping’

Last month, fans got their hands on the new book in the ‘Hunger Game’ series from author Suzanne Collins. The book served to show the events that transpired prior to ‘Hunger Games.’
For example, ‘Sunrise On the Reaping’ kicks off with the 50th edition of the games, whilst Katniss participated in the 74th edition. Just like in ‘A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ we’ll be meeting characters we originally got acquainted with in ‘Hunger Games.’
The catch is that it will be the younger versions, so their vices and drives will be different from what it is in ‘Hunger Games.’ Production for this latest addition to the world of ‘Hunger Games’ is already underway, and with it, comes the casting news. Here’s what we know so far about who’s playing who.
Charlie Plummer Rumored To Play the Lead Character In the Upcoming YA Adaptation
‘A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ was deemed epic cinema when it released in 2024, courtesy of their casting choices.
Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy was seen as a very interesting move, and as the franchise goes hunting for a younger version of this character, fans can’t help but wait with bated breaths to see who makes the cut.
Word on the street is that little-known star Charlie Plummer is being considered for the role. Don’t worry, he’s not a complete newbie in the world of acting – like the model that stole the screens in the first season of Netflix’s ‘Squid Game.’
Plummer has actually got some movie credits to his belt. Maybe not the big ones, but he’s getting there. He’d likely get there a lot sooner if production finally settles on him for the role of Abernathy.
But one of the casting choices that immediately clicked for me is Ralph Fiennes as the villain Coriolanus Snow. Some think that the late Donald Sutherland’s son Kiefer Sutherland, who does in fact look like him, would have been a better fit for the role. But I’m voting Fiennes.
Elle Fanning Eyed To Play Younger Version of Effie Trinket
We’ve already reported on this before: Elle Fanning has been approached for the role of Effie Trinket. The actress really captured the hearts of fans in ‘A Complete Unknown’ and generally, even though casting news tend to be very divisive, this one was received with so much joy from fans. So maybe we’ve got it on lock Fanning playing Effie.
There are also claims Oscar winning actor Kieran Culkin will step into the shoes of the younger version of the ‘Hunger Games’ greatest showman and interviewer, Caesar Flickerman. If Culkin doesn’t work, maybe ‘Harry Potter’s’ Daniel Radcliffe might. Just saying.
