Sigourney Weaver Reveals The Fate Of Her Character Kiri In The ‘Avatar’ Franchise

Where are all my ‘Avatar’ lovers? We’ve just gotten new updates about the two upcoming ‘Avatar’ films. Both movies in the franchise so far have managed to snag a global audience and gross over a billion dollars. So what’s next for a franchise this big? ‘Avatar’s’ Sigourney Weaver has given us some insight.

Sigourney Weaver – Promises More “Hard-hitting” ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Buckle up, if you thought ‘Avatar 2’ was an emotional rollercoaster, prepare your mind and emotions for the coming ones.

For those who can’t recognize Sigourney Weaver underneath all that blue, she plays Kiri and Dr. Grace Augustine in the franchise: the adopted daughter of Jake Sully and Neytiri. Kiri was born from Dr. Grace’s Avatar, even though her biological father remains a mystery.

With her unusual abilities and connection to the Na’vi god, Eywa, some speculate that she may not even have a biological father.

Introduced in the second movie, it seems Kiri will be the vessel that serves to keep fans exploring the mysteries and wonders of the Na’vi people and most especially, even provide a deeper understanding of Eywa.

During a recent interview, Weaver touched on what fans can expect from 3 and 4, and even possibly 5.

“I remember reading the script of the first Avatar and reading about these blue people with pointed ears and tails riding on these creatures through floating mountains … I couldn’t imagine any of it being shot,” Weaver, 73, shared

She continued: “I honestly couldn’t imagine how he would ever make a film that looked like this and had these elements. But I’m so glad for Jim, and for the success of these films, which has meant we’re able to keep making them. I just finished working on Avatar 3 earlier this month, actually, and I think the series will continue to grow and be more and more hard-hitting…”.

When asked whether her 14-year-old character will be appearing in 4 and 5 she said, “Yes, I think I’m allowed to say that.”

The upcoming Installment is called ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ with the Ash people and their culture taking center stage.
