The movie is still in its early stages so there’s not much known yet, except that this “Jason Bourne” will likely see Matt Damon reprise his iconic role. Here’s all we know about the project so far.
Universal Pictures Interested In Having Matt Damon Reprise His Titular “Jason Bourne”
No doubt the “Jason Bourne” franchise is a very big one, producing five movies – four of which star Matt Damon – and a spinoff television series.
Even so, audience interest in the thriller is yet to die down, and this has reportedly led to Universal Pictures considering bringing the action star back for one – or two or three – more death-defying ride.
While the project is still in the earliest stages of its development, Deadline reported that Universal Pictures is very much interested in having Damon reprise the role. In fact, sources reveal that he’ll be the first to be approached for the new project once the script is completed.

Even though Universal is yet to comment on this news, there’s strong belief that director Edward Berger is in serious talks to helm the project.

Not just that, his involvement in the project is sure to thrill fans because it means more blood-pumping action.
Based on the character created by author Robert Ludlum, the franchise kicked off in 2002 with the release of “The Bourne Identity.”

Following the immediate success of the first film, “The Bourne Supremacy” and “The Bourne Ultimatum” followed in 2004 and 2007. Both films further explored Bourne’s struggle to break from his past, as well as figure out the reason he’s haunted so.
This cuts off in 2012 when Jeremy Renner took the reins as the lead star in “The Bourne Legacy” as a CIA operative dealing with the consequences of Bourne’s actions.
In 2016, Damon returned for another movie, simply titled “Jason Bourne,” which focused on the origins of Bourne.
