Netflix Reveals Premiere Date For Outer Banks Season 2

Outer BanksOuter Banks debuted to a large number of viewers when it launched on the streaming service on April 15, 2020. Three months after the series premiered, Netflix announced that the series has been renewed for a second season. “See you in the Bahamas,” the series official account shared at the time.

What To Expect From Outer Banks Season 2

“Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons,” showrunner Jonas Pate told Entertainment Weekly in April last year. He also confirmed that Netflix had given a go-ahead order to start production on the second season of the show even before the first season premiered.

To secure the interest of the show’s fans, the final episode of the first season ended on a major cliffhanger, as Pogue crew member John B. (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) attempted to outrun the police after Sarah’s dad (Charles Esten) framed John B. for murder.

“The Pogues think that John B. and Sarah are dead,” Pate told the outlet. “So, we realized that gave us some dramatic possibilities that we could explore before we get them all reunited. We love that part of the show, having the Pogues together. That’s when we feel like this show is working the best.”

“There will definitely be some new mysteries and some new ideas,” the producer added. “It all comes off the same spine of the same story but it branches out in ways that hopefully the audience won’t see coming.”

The first official images from the upcoming season were released by Netflix in May, with the streaming giant confirming that new episodes will debut this summer.

The teaser for the upcoming series has also been released and in the sneak peek, we see J.J. (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey) and Pope (Jonathan Daviss) pay tribute to their friends John B. and Sarah, who they thought were dead after encountering a huge storm at sea. However, we know that the pair did survive and were later picked up by a tanker on its way to the Bahamas, which happened to be the same place Ward stashed the gold.

The show’s writers are hoping that fans won’t be able to decipher all the clues so that there’ll still be surprises along the way.

“Season 2 is going to test our crew like never before. We’ve turned up the dial on everything fans loved about Season 1 — more mystery, more romance, and higher stakes. It’s a full-throttle, action-packed adventure, and these photos offer a glimpse into the next chapter for our Pogues,” co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke said in a statement. “All we can say for now is buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride.”

The show’s official description reads, “The $400M is still in the game, but will the uncovering of a new-found secret reunite the group for a fresh mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaits, but uncharted waters ahead mean our Pogues must do all they can to make it out alive.”

Outer Banks Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on July 30.
