A witness at the rally told the BBC they saw a man with a rifle crawling on a nearby roof before the shots rang out.

If that weren’t enough, he also appeared to raise a fist as he was led off stage. There appeared to be blood on his face. Screams from the audience rang out as the scene unfolded. 

Many of Donald Trump’s fans and critics alike have taken to social media to weigh in on the matter.

Some even wrote comments such as, “This is the type of president I want! Someone who’s proud of this country. Someone who is a man not a coward.”

“Someone who will stand up for our country. Someone who is strong enough to get us out of these bad times!”

Another critic wrote, “It such a sad state of our country. The left has stirred their base up to so much hatred for a man who has done nothing to them that they are seeking to assassinate him. How very sad.”

And then there was this comment as well, “I’m not Trump fan, but this shooting was uncalled for. With the direction the bullets seemed to come from, it is a good thing Trump had his head turned or else we could be dealing with much worse.”

“Republicans conspiracy theorists are awfully quiet tonight. They usually would have spun up a tale to explain away these events by now. Republicans do your thing.”
