Instead, she wants to stay in Florida and only commute to events when she has to. And of course, Donald Trump is none too pleased with this decision.

He can’t be the president with a wife who is a first lady hundreds of miles away. It just doesn’t work that way.

But when it comes to Melania Trump, there’s no way anyone can change her mind. If Donald Trump were to bring her back to Washington, D.C., the only way that she would go back would be kicking and screaming.

Yet, this is not the way that Donald Trump wants to see things done. Sure, he doesn’t need her on a full-time basis, but he does need her to live in the White House with him, especially for important things like state visits.

Those kind of events, with visiting prime minister and their wives, require both the president and the first lady to be present.

Melania Trump can’t just decide on which events she chooses to attend and which event she chooses not to attend. She’s got to be there for everything. After all, that’s what first ladies do. They support their husbands in their roles.

And while Donald Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to get back to Washington, it seems like Melania is working on her own priorities. And many of them have nothing to do with the political world at all.

Instead, the former first lady just wants to live her private life away from the spotlight. So far Melania Trump herself has made no comments about the matter but at this point it’s doubtful that anything will be said.
