Perhaps she just didn’t want to be in the same room as her opponent? Maybe, but there are reports that say a lot of people are none too pleased with the fact that Kamala Harris skipped the Al Smith dinner in New York on Thursday night. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Kamala Harris Bails On The Al Smith Dinner In New York

In a pre-recorded video, Kamala Harris had actress Molly Shannon join her for a short skit. 

“I just want to say that I’m Catholic, and tonight is one of the biggest dinners next to the Last Supper,” Shannon, dressed as her character Mary Katherine Gallagher said.

“It is a very important dinner, and it’s an important tradition that I’m so proud to be a part of,” Harris responded.

“Is there anything that you think that maybe I shouldn’t bring up tonight?” Harris asked. 

Shannon then said, “Well, don’t lie. Thou shall not bear false witness to thy neighbor.”

It’s been noted that the vice president skipped the event and is the first time a nominee has done so since failed Democratic nominee Walter Mondale in 1984.

Should Kamala Harris Have Gone To The Dinner?

It goes without saying that the internet did what it did best and certainly had a lot to say about the matter.

Some people even commented with, “Weakness and not funny at all. Kamala wasn’t confident enough to be in the room with President Trump and to have to speak without a teleprompter. Another cringe performance.”

Another critic wrote, “Kamala Harris offends Catholics by using a fake Nun to disrespect Sisters all over the world who have dedicated their lives to service.”

“She has got to be the most cringe-worthy, and inauthentic presidential candidate ever. I can’t even watch her because she is so bad.”

And then there was this comment as well: “The cringe part of this video was so unbearable and why does she say? I am so proud to be a part of this tradition? You didn’t even show up for the dinner.”
