As 47th US President-elect Donald Trump continues announcing appointments for his next term, he recently surprised some when he nominated Kimberly Guilfoyle as the US Ambassador to Greece this week.

Who is Kimberly Guilfoyle and why has she been appointed to this role? Learn more about her and her past accomplishments, below.

Who Is Kimberly Guilfoyle & Why Did Trump Appoint Her ?

At the age of 55, Guilfoyle is a former Fox host and also happens to be a part of Trump’s extended family. The one-time attorney is the fiancé to Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and has long worked on the President’s past presidential campaigns.

Interestingly enough, Guilfoyle was once married to California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is a member of the Democratic Party.

In his announcement appointing Guilfoyle as the US ambassador to Greece, Trump noted that Kimberly was both a ‘close friend’ and ‘ally’.

He goes on to say, “Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States and safeguard its interests abroad.

He also stated, “Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation.” “

With that said, Guilfoyle’s appointment will need the confirmation of US senators.

Guilfoyle spent over ten years as a host on Fox and was a former LA and San Francisco prosecutor. After leaving Fox, she joined Donald Trump’s presidential campaign team.

Guilfoyle is one appointment of many by Trump who are either current, past, or one-time Fox contributors or hosts. Others include Pete Hegseth, Trump’s appointment for defense secretary, as well as Sean Duffy, Trump’s transportation secretary pick, and Janette Nesheiwat, his nominee for surgeon general.

Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. got engaged in 2020, and while there’s been speculation that the two have broken up within tabloids, neither have confirmed or denied a breakup.
