At 39-years old Vance is the second youngest VP pick, behind Richard Nixon. Trump announced the news on his social media portal, Truth Social.
He wrote: “As Vice President, J.D. will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our Troops, and will do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Vance achieved national attention in 2016 when his autobiography was published, the same year that Trump was elected president.
His senate career is less than two years old and he is known for his past strong rhetoric against Trump and his policies.
Over time Vance has turned a corner, becoming one of Trump’s fiercest supporters, defending his “Make America Great Again” campaign with fervor. Vance also agrees with Trump’s stands on foreign policy, trade and immigration.

But before his U-turn on Trump, who Vance did not vote for in 2016, he tweeted: “My god what an idiot.”
According to the Daily Mail, “insiders said he became increasingly politicized as he watched the nation’s elite institutions turn on the Trump presidency even as he delivered on his promises.”

Last week, Donald Trump Jr. told DailyMail.com: “You make a lot of acquaintances in politics, but J.D. is a great and loyal guy who has become a genuine friend. His entire life story is the embodiment of the American dream, but he never forgets where he came from.’
Vance’s selection comes less than two days after Trump was grazed by an assassin’s bullet during a rally in Butler, PA. Hours after the shooting on Saturday, President Joe Biden condemned the violence and called on citizens to disavow hostile actions.
