American Pickers star Frank Fritz passed away in September this year, and if you wonder what will happen to his antiques and collection of motorbikes, the answer has arrived via a close associate. Read on to find out more.
Frank Fritz Died Two Years After A Stroke
Two years before his death, the American Pickers personality suffered from a stroke. When the news that he passed away came, it was his friend, Mike Wolf who told viewers of the History Channel show about the sad event. Remember, the two men feuded for a while, but fortunately, they made things right between them before his death.
You probably recall that Mike and Frank Fritz loved exploring off-the-beaten-track for antique toys. But Frank’s first love was motorbikes. He had an impressive amount of bikes and hung onto most of them after he lost his job with American Pickers on the History Channel
What Will Happen To The Bikes?
This week, The Sun reported that there is a plan for the disposal of the motorbikes. The outlet chatted with Jerry Gendreau who was a friend of Frank for many years. Previously, he’d told the outlet that some of the bikes would be on display at his store. But, that won’t be the case forever.
American Pickers fans with deep pockets might actually be able to get ahold of some of Frank Fritz’s motorbikes. Jerry said:
They’re going to have an auction. That’s what I would do because of his fan base, I think he’ll do really, really well with an auction.
The outlet reminded fans that “Frank Fritz Finds is located in the back room of Jerry’s bar, Hawgdogs, in Savanna, Illinois.” While the bulk of the bikes will probably end up being auctioned, hopefully, some of the former History Channel star’s stuff will remain on display.
The Book About Motorbikes
The former American Pickers co-host loved bikes so much, that he once wrote a book called “How to Pick Vintage Motorcycles.” If you happen to have one, it could end up being a collectible itself. Especially, if you have a signed copy.
The motorbike collection of Frank Fritz included a Harley-Davidson from 1964 which was his first bike. However, it’s not clear what the full catalog consisted of. According to The Sun, when they met with Frank in 2021, his Ohio property “contained rows of motorcycles from his personal collection.”
No details emerged about when or where the auction might take place, so watch this space for updated news about the American Pickers star’s collection.
What do you think about the idea of all the motorbikes belonging to Frank Fritz being auctioned off? Do you hope that at least some of them remain in the store so you can see them? Does it make you feel sad to think of such precious assets being disposed of on auction?
