Bachelorette alum Josh Seiter was a contestant on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season and now that the ABC alum has come out, she wants the franchise to cast a trans woman in the role. There have been recent changes and there is more diversity, but she feels it doesn’t go far enough.
Bachelorette Has Become More Diverse
Diversity has been slow, but ABC has been making some changes. Apart from introducing the Golden Bachelor and Bachelorette, they already cast Rachel Linsday as the first African American lead. It didn’t work out as she and Bryan Abasolo currently go through a toxic divorce.
The current season of The Bachelorette stars Jenn Tran as the lead. She’s the first Asian American lead and that is definitely progress. However, Josh, who was known for sliding into the DMs of TLC stars decided to transition. Before that, the reality TV star claimed that Amy Slaton Halterman’s rejection was a heartbreaking moment.
Josh Seiter Wants A Trans Lead
After struggling with mental health issues and a hoax death, a mental health facility was the next stop. Death threats allegedly led to a withdrawal from social media. Now transitioning, the TV star returned and keeps people updated on progress. On Instagram Stories this week, the message about a trans lead arrived.
The Bachelorette alum opined:
It’s great that The Bachelor franchise is finally casting a more diverse group of people (it took long enough) but real progress has not been made until they cast a trans woman lead.
The ABC star didn’t mention whether the franchise should cast only contestants who are members of the LGBTQ+ community or not. Unfortunately, as the comment came on stories, not much debate arose. However, there is a possibility that the execs from the dating show might already consider something more diverse regarding gender identity.
Representative Voices
Josh is not the only person who might appreciate a trans woman lead on The Bachelorette. Gabby Windey came out and seems happy with Robby Hoffman. Meanwhile, other voices include Demi Burnett from Bachelor in Paradise, who proposed to Kristian Haggerty. And of course, there is also Colton Underwood.
As for the audience, well just those named Bachelor Nation stars already have millions of followers. So, it’s possible that ABC might at least run some number-crunching on the idea. Of course, as Josh Seiter seems rather desperate to get back on reality TV, maybe she would put her hand up to be the first trans woman on the show.
