“Chrisley Knows Best” Star Julie Chrisley’s – Insufficient Evidence
While the convictions were upheld for Julie, Todd, and their account Peter Tarantino, it was found that the original judge in their trial miscalculated Julie’s sentence term
. According to PEOPLE, who gained access to records, Julie was deemed responsible for the bank fraud scheme; however, this dates back to 2006.
The judge discovered insufficient evidence to link Julie to this before 2007 and could not find “any specific evidence” showing Julie was involved in 2006.
In Friday’s ruling, the judge wrote, “The problem is that we have not located the evidence the district court relied on in adopting that finding.
Our review of the record hasn’t revealed evidence to show, even by a preponderance of the evidence, that [Julie] was involved in 2006. Indeed, the government’s brief concedes that the evidence shows Julie ‘participated in the bank fraud conspiracy from 2007,’ not 2006.”
“Chrisley Knows Best” Star Julie Chrisley’s Attorney Statement
The attorney for the Chrisleys, Alex Little, offered a statement on Julie and Todd’s appeal outcomes, stating, “We’re pleased that the Court agreed that Julie’s sentence was improper, but we’re obviously disappointed that it rejected Todd’s appeal.
With this step behind us, we can now challenge the couple’s convictions based on the illegal search that started the case.
The family appreciates the continued support they’ve received throughout this process. And they’re hopeful for more good news in the future.”
Since this legal case hit, the husband-and-wife reality TV stars have proclaimed their innocence.
