With less than a few months to the release of her tell-all memoir “Counting The Cost” which will be released on September 29, “Counting On’s” Jill Duggar has a lot on her plate. Granted, she’s done with recording the audiobook of her memoir, she even took some time off her busy schedule to thank everyone who was involved in it in a July 29 Instagram post but, the mom of three’s heart is heavy with grief.
Jill is currently mourning the loss of her bosom friend Heather Schisler who died of cancer last month. Taking to her Instagram story on Sunday, July 30, Jill broke the news of the painful loss of her dear friend to her followers.
“Our hearts are breaking over the loss today of our sweet friend @heather.schisler,” wrote Jill. “We have [known] each other for years and were in the same small group at church for several years. We were pregnant together last year and had our babes just a couple weeks apart.”
Jill Duggar — Jill Reflects On Life And “How Fleeting” It Is
Jill’s friend Heather Schisler shared the heartbreaking news of her cancer diagnosis in May, explaining that she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer barely a year after delivering her last child. Among others, Jill commented on Heather’s post telling her, “Praying so much for y’all.”
Unfortunately, a few days after her daughter’s one-year birthday, Heather passed away. After breaking the news of Heather’s demise, the following day July 31, Jill shared an image of a fruit basket and a flower in a transparent flower verse and added a long touching post on reflection to it.
Jill began her post with, “Thankfull for spending a little extra time in the garden this morning reflecting on life…how truly fleeting it is. We don’t always understand why things happen the way they do. Sometimes it’s hard to process….and that’s ok.”
Continuing, Jill wrote, “As my heart breaks for my friends and others walking through such tragedy and loss (like I mentioned in my stories), I take my grief, pain and questions to Jesus today, and I remember his promises…that he promises to be near to the broken-hearted, that he will never leave us or forsake us.”
“I am also reminded of the story of Lazarus…where Jesus (God in flesh, the creator of heaven and earth) still wept when he lost his friend. He grieved. He wept even though he knew that he would raise Lazarus from the dead just a few moments later,” wrote the 32-year-old.
She went on to add, “In this sometimes crummy, fallen world, with the pain and hardships we all face, I am reminded of the contrasting hope that we have through Christ Jesus and the perfect bliss that awaits us with Him in heaven.”
Jill’s post received over 100 comments from friends and well-wishers wishing Heather’s soul to rest in peace.
