Dancing with the Stars Season 30 concluded on Monday night and the winner seemed unlikely just a few short weeks ago. The finale brought a season full of surprises to an end and if you thought the winner was a foregone conclusion, then you’d be wrong.

Dancing with the Stars Fans Saw Many Upsets In Season 30

The latest season brought coronavirus hitches. However, the show went on and fans who feared too much disruption were fortunate that only two dancers went down with it. Cody Rigsby and his pro-dancer, Cheryl Burke both fell sick. He got it for the second time. They performed remotely for a bit and luckily, the audience voters saved them from early elimination. Actually, they went on to complete in the finals. Judge Derek Hugh also fell sick with the virus, so he missed the finals. Well, he appeared remotely as well, but his sister stood in for him.

Dancing with the Stars season 30 fans might have thought they knew exactly who would win. This year at least, the Mirror Ball didn’t go to a Bachelor Nation star. Recall, Hannah Brown won Season 28 and Kaitlyn Bristowe won in Season 29. The only person from The Bachelor who featured, Matt James, went home quite early. Folks thought that Nickelodeon star and former Dance Moms dancer, Jojo Siwa would win easily. However, that never happened. She certainly was not the only surprise of Season 30. Some very talented dancers like Olivia Jade went home and low-scorer Iman Shumpert remained all the way through to the finals.

Dancing with the Stars The Winner Announced

Monsters and Critics reported that the four finalist couples “were JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson,…Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke, Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten, and NBA star Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach.” Ahead of the finale, Jojo Siwa led the way, with Cody Rigsby and Cheryl at the bottom. In-between, sat Amanda Kloots and Alan, along with Iman and Daniella. After their dances, Amanda and Alan dropped to 4th place. Above them sat Cody and Cheryl, and in second place, fans saw Jojo Siwa see her hopes fade away. The actual winners were Iman Shumpert and Daniella.

Dancing with the Stars winner Iman Shumpert became the first former NBA player to win the Mirror Ball trophy. Generally, fans seemed very happy for him. Many comments celebrating his win came along on Twitter. Only a few people grumped about it. Some of them claimed the ABC show was clearly rigged from the beginning. Well, many people believed that Iman should have gone home a long time before the finals, so in a way, their attitude seems understandable.
