Derick Dillard Heads To Officer Candidate School For Military Role?

The Kendra Duggar arrest and that of her husband, Joseph Duggar, shines the light in the Duggar family again, bringing Derick Dillard back into conversations about the Counting On cast. Recently, folks talked about his change of career. Is Derick working for the military now? Read on for all the details.

This week, the subject of Derick Dillard arose during a video by Tony Brueski. If you don’t know, he runs a YouTube Channel called Hidden Killers: True Crime Today.

In his Tuesday monologue, he mainly sent a message to Kendra Duggar about how she should escape from a life where she’s being controlled into not thinking about life with her alleged child molester husband.

Kind, he really seemed supportive of Kendra. But of course, those folk familiar with the Duggar family doubt she’ll ever get to hear his podcast. The discussion turned to her lawyers, and from there, to Derick Dillard.

Derick’s Moving Along In His Career

Of course, TLC fans know that Derick Dillard worked as a missionary, studied law, and ended up as an assistant in the Oklahoma DA’s office. If you don’t know, since then, he moved along with his career.

One follower wrote in the YouTube comments:

Jill and Derick Dillard are the only ones who have distanced themselves from Jim Bob & Michelle. Derick is on track to be a JAG for the military! They have a bright future ahead of them.

Verifying The Military Job

Is that true? Well, if you wade through Derick Dillard’s resume on LinkedIn, you’ll find tons of stuff, but no mention about the military. However, a few days ago, on their family blog website, the news arrived that he is, indeed, joining up. In fact, it said:

Derick has joined the Marine Corps! He has been selected for Marine Corps Officer Candidate School (OCS)! He ships out for active duty to Quantico, VA in a few weeks! Lord willing he will commission as an officer at the end of OCS and then go on to a couple of other trainings before getting his assignment as a Marine Corps JAG officer!

Multiple Jobs

Of course, the news ended up on Reddit on the weekend. There, Counting On fans discussed the move. Some folks spoke about how he seems to have had multiple jobs. And, they’re not wrong.

According to CafeMom, after he left the DA’s office, he entered into a law partnership with Blair Law. Plus, he secured “a position as an adjunct professor at John Brown University, a private Christian college in Arkansas.”

But it’s the military connection that people find rather interesting. According to the blog, he always wanted a military life. Well, that’s interesting. Why?

Well, because years ago when he worked as a missionary, he and Jill Duggar seemed determined to do God’s work and also fill that quiver with tons of kids. Kudos to them though, for breaking out of the mold.

In the comments section on the r/duggarsnark sub, one TLC follower opined, “Well, that definitely was not on my bingo card this year!”

• Benefits. My uncle joined the Army as JAG after passing the bar and practicing law in Chicago simply for the benefits.
• Yup, healthcare, retirement etc. plus Marines will pay insane bonuses for the right roles. If they are short on JAG they will roll out a welcome mat and Derick could be walking into $40k sign-on bonuses and stuff.
• Actually already being a lawyer when he joins is in his favor. He will most likely end up with some kind of desk job vs being sent into combat.
• Joining the military right now is a choice, but it’s a sound financial decision and has significant job security. Which they have not experienced before.
