Golden Bachelor fans think that Gerry Turner passed away, but is it true? The news that arrived on social media this week comes after the hoax death of Josh Seiter. It also follows the news that Theresa Nist’s ex was diagnosed with cancer. 

The Death Rumors Started On Instagram

On April 9, a fan account for Bachelor Nation on Instagram shared a photo of Gerry, and in the caption, the admin wrote, “#BreakingNews #RIP #Bachelor star DEAD #linkinbio.” As Theresa follows the page, it must have been a shock for her, but ABC fans couldn’t tell because comments were switched off.

On Reddit, u/Gawain_Bell felt suspicious, posting, “This news has to be fake? This IG account posted this today and I’m thinking it’s fake. It’s such a weird post because it has no context or info and the comments are turned off. Wth?”

Investigating Further

Clicking the link in the bio took readers to a website that didn’t have a story about Gerry Turner. Instead, the article was about Clint Arlis, 24. He’d been a contestant on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette, and he passed away in January this year. 

Angry ABC fans hated the clickbait post that got them all worried about Gerry. One of them wrote, “Some of the teen mom women do this too. Basically just post extremely click bait stuff and they get paid for it.”

Another fan who contributed to the discussion wrote, “I would block an account like this so that they will not even show up in suggestions. Unfollowing would not be enough. Just saying.”
