Golden Bachelor alum Gerry Turner announced that he suffers from an incurable form of bone cancer. While he claims it formed part of his decision to break it off with Theresa Nist, she has a different take on it. Read on to find out more.
Gerry Turner Still Lives His Life
ABC fans will recall that the Golden Bachelor, (72), loved playing pickleball. In fact, he recently shared about that on his social media. So, although he has an incurable form of cancer, it doesn’t seem to have affected him all that badly.
Gerry Turner fans see that the first Golden Bachelor lead lives his life and enjoys activities with his family and friends. Not all that long ago, he took a long road trip and had the time of his life. Getting together with old friends seems to be a highlight in his life. And that’s because he’s determined to live his life while he can—just not with Theresa Nist.
Gerry Turner Has A Slow-Growing Bone Cancer
People broke the news that the ABC star has cancer. It’s not a fast-growing cancer and he found out about it in March. However, it isn’t curable. In his statement about his “Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia,” he said that he hurt himself playing pickleball, and it was a follow-up test that found something was off. So, he saw “an oncologist.”
Gerry Turner explained that he felt devastated because, in the long run, he would probably die from that cancer. So, he explained:
I wanted my life to continue on as normal as possible, and that led me to believing that as normal as possible more meant spending time with my family, my two daughters, my two son-in-laws, my granddaughters. And the importance of finding the way with Theresa was still there, but it became less of a priority.
ABC Star Theresa Nist Reacts
Gerry also mentioned that he felt the backlash over the divorce was “unfair.” The ABC alum hinted that his cancer went a long way to making him break it off with her. However, in another statement, Theresa Nist claimed that was not the case. She said:
If that was something on his part, maybe, I don’t know. But no, that didn’t factor into ending the relationship. Part of it was the distance, but that wasn’t the only part. That’s really all I will say.
The former Golden Bachelor winner also said that the form of cancer that gerry turner suffers from is very slow. She added, “it’s going to be the type of cancer that will not affect his life and that he’ll live to be a very healthy old age.”
