The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner has reacted to a shocking report that he broke up with a girlfriend over her weight gain. And the report also claimed that despite claiming he lacked for romances after his wife’s death, Turner remained in a secret romance for three years.

Gerry Turner initially revealed on the Golden Bachelor that he experienced no romances after the death of his wife. But then came a new report that Turner stayed in a secret romance for three years. And he also allegedly dumped that girlfriend when she gained weight, according to the Sun.
However, Turner now has discussed the seeming contradictions in what he revealed on the Golden Bachelor and the shocking report. And the 72-year-old admitted that he did go through what he labeled dating “failures” after the death of his wife Toni.
“I’ve dated a number of times since Toni’s passed, more recently than back closer to when she’s passed,” confessed the Golden Bachelor star. But he didn’t mention his girlfriend’s weight gain as the alleged reason that he dumped her.

And rather than discuss the report that he dumped a girlfriend when she gained 10 pounds, Turner just said, “For one reason or another, the attempts didn’t work out. I could give you a wide range of reasons,” he added. “But it doesn’t really matter.”
However, the Golden Bachelor star shared that he did think he felt ready to return to the dating soon a year after his wife’s death. But then he realized “it absolutely wasn’t the case.” And so Turner headed to therapy.
“I finally decided, ‘It’s time for me to go see a grief counselor,’ because I wasn’t sure I was on track.” And he called it “probably a life changer for me because I remember having two sessions with the counselor, and he goes, ‘You’re fine. You just got to give yourself credit for being OK’.”

As a result, Turner felt better about dating. However, he insisted that he experienced no long-term romances after his wife’s death. “I’ve still developed one very good friendship with one woman that lives about 40 miles away in Michigan,” shared the Golden Bachelor star.
And then he “realized that the romantic side of the relationship just wasn’t going to work. But we’ve seemed to maintain a nice friendship, so I feel good about that. If nothing else, some of the failures were offset by that one nice success.”
However, then came the Golden Bachelor show opportunity. And Turner shared that the show proved to have succeeded in terms of romance. But he admitted that he did feel uncertain at first about who to choose. However, as time passed, Turner finally made his “happy” choice.
