Gwen Stefani Ditches No Doubt

Fans were holding out hope for new music from No Doubt. But that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Gwen Stefani wants to go back to coaching on The Voice.

The songstress has been a coach on the show for seven non-consecutive seasons. She is set to return for her eighth season.

She will join Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, and newcomer Michael Buble for Season 26 of The Voice. NBC announced the news at its Upfronts last month.

Gwen will not return for Season 27 of the show. Michael, Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Adam Levine will take over the red swiveling chairs. Adam will return to the show for the first time in six years.

Gwen Stefani is locking down a cool salary for her gig. An insider told The U.S. she will make $13 million for Season 26 of The Voice. She originally planned to hit the road with her band No Doubt.

They received critical acclaim for their headlining shows at Coachella. Gwen chose to return to The Voice instead of touring with her bandmates.

The insider explained that the “Purple Irises” singer “didn’t need the band” because she “lands so many solo gigs playing their old hits alone.” Gwen is comfortable with performing her classic songs by herself. She doesn’t need to perform with them all the time.

Returning to The Voice

Gwen Stefani wanted to make the best business decision for herself. She is thriving off the high of their reunion at Coachella. But she wants to leave it at that.

The band hoped to announce a tour after that reunion, but their plans fell apart. They couldn’t see eye-to-eye on how to make it happen.

“The desire initially was Gwen and the band to use that platform to keep playing beyond Coachella on a tour, but the plan fell apart,” the insider continued. “But there was talk of tensions between members and managers around going back out and trying to work around everyone’s schedules.”

The earnings she would receive from touring with No Doubt wouldn’t amount to what she would make from The Voice. Her plans to release solo music are also unclear at this time.

She’s always a mother first! She has 3 kids with busy schedules plus a husband and family to consider. Of course she’s going to choose an LA job close to home and her boys over traveling and missing out on memories with her three boys. The Voice has remained a very family friendly atmosphere for their employees. Easy decision for a parent.
