Honey Boo Boo: Alana Thompson Began Dating Controversial Boyfriend At WHAT Age?!

Honey Boo Boo, who also goes by Alana Thompson, feels adult enough at age 16 to clap back at critics. And that includes those who scold her for dating her boyfriend Dralin Carswell, 21. However, a new interview from the Toddlers & Tiaras alum includes a bombshell that could actually spark MORE criticism.

Honey Boo Boo BASHES Boyfriend Backlash

When Alana Thompson first made her romance with Dralin Carswell public, fans assumed that Honey Boo Boo only recently had begun her romance. And some of the reality TV star’s followers figured they could persuade her to end the relationship because it seemed so new. But talking with Entertainment Tonight, the 16-year-old dropped a bombshell about Carswell, 21.

However, Alana first put her emphasis on clapping back at critics. And she also bashed those who criticize her over “our age gap” as well as “because he’s black and I’m white.” But Honey Boo Boo kept her message to haters  and fans simple. “I don’t care,” she stated. “Because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves and we’re happy.” As a result, “what fans got to say or what haters got to say, I don’t really care,” added Thompson.

Joined by her sister Lauryn (Pumpkin) Shannon, Honey Boo Boo sometimes seems older than 16 because of her years on reality TV. In addition to Toddlers And Tiaras, Alana appeared in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. And she currently stars in Mama June: Road To Redemption as well.  As a result, the teenager sees herself as mature enough to choose who she dates.

Honey Boo Boo Confesses When She Started Dating Older Boyfriend

However, during her interview, Honey Boo Boo corrected those who think she only recently started dating Dralin. And she confessed that the two began their romance a year and seven months ago. But her sister Pumpkin didn’t see anything wrong with the then-15-year-old dating the then-19-year-old. And Alana claims that she only cares what her sister and Dralin’s mother thinks.

However, Pumpkin seemed to set the bar for her judgement rather low. For instance, she shared that Honey Boo Boo does not plan to get married or have a baby at age 16. And therefore Pumpkin feels fine about the romance. “She’s not getting married, she’s not having a kid, she’s doing very good in school,” summed up Pumpkin. And Alana’s sister also stated that she feels the age gap doesn’t matter because the two operate “on the same wavelength.”

As for Honey Boo Boo, the teenager praised certain aspects of her romance with her older boyfriend. “I like how it’s never quiet when we’re around each other, we’re always talking about something. It’s never like an awkward moment, silence or none of that. We’re always just talking about something,” Alana revealed. And she also expressed gratitude for his support during her time on The Masked Singer.
