Is Anna Duggar Being Forced To Stick With Josh?

Counting On fans wonder if Jim Bob Duggar is somehow forcing Anna Duggar to stick with Josh Duggar. Something made her stay married to him after his 12.5-year conviction for CSAM. For the life of them, TLC fans can’t understand why she would stay, especially as she and Josh produced seven children. 

TLC Alum Anna Duggar Could Support Herself

While a lot of Counting On fans argue that Anna’s incapable of supporting herself, that might not be true. Firstly, her brother, “Daniel Keller” condemned Josh for cheating on her and offered her and her kids a place to stay, per People. It is also believed that she might be working with breeding dogs. And of course, if she wrote a tell-all book, she could make millions. 

Secondly, Anna Duggar has those who support her leaving Josh Duggar. Amy Duggar King was one of them. So probably, if she left the old warehouse where she currently lives with her seven children, she might not end up without a roof over her head. Actually, some Counting On fans might even help her fundraise if she declares that she’s done with Josh Duggar. 

Anna Duggar Forced By Jim Bob To Stay?

On Reddit. some TLC fans discussed Jim Bob Duggar possibly forcing his daughter-in-law to stay. Well, as she has offers of alternative accommodation, he might need something else to keep her there against her will. But does he have that? Or, does he even need something to hold her?

A theory I have about Anna…One of the theories I have about Anna not leaving is she is scared that Boob will take her kids away from her. I believe when pest was sentenced, and everyone went home. Boob warned Anna that if she … tries to leave he will take her kids away from her. And he dangles it over her head. And says that she will not win custody because she can’t support herself since she doesn’t have any jobs skills, and a poor education….

Additionally, The OP mentioned that sometimes, cultists use that sort of threat to keep people who want to leave.

TLC Fans Discuss The Possibilities

Most Counting On fans in the discussion don’t think that Jim Bob Duggar would have to work too hard to keep Anna Duggar if that’s what he’s trying to do. She probably doesn’t have it in her to break away. Here are some of their thoughts:

• It definitely wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility that Boob would do that. But I think she’s just straight up brainwashed. I think she chooses to stay bc she has been taught her whole life that that is what a wife does. 
• I also think part of the brainwashing is none of what Josh did was his “fault”. He wouldn’t have “strayed” if she was a better wife. She’s probably wracked with guilt…
• It’s a variation of a thought terminating cliche that is common in cults. “I don’t need to escape/can’t escape because I am the problem.”
• It’s the mindset that is taught within certain Christianity sectors. I was taught it and blamed myself when my ex did a similar thing. Takes a while to unlearn these teachings.
• I think deconstruction has a cost that’s higher than she’s willing to pay… she probably has an entire fundie worldview built up that justifies and explains her suffering.
