Is Kelsea Ballerini Replacing Kelly Clarkson On The Voice Season 20?

The Voice - Kelsea Ballerini The Voice Battles aired March 29 and many viewers wondered why Kelsea Ballerini was there instead of Kelly Clarkson. A lot of fans are now asking if Ballerini will replace Kelly for the rest of the season.

Well, the answer is no. She’s just in for the Battle Rounds because Clarkson asked her to take her spot on The Voice at that time because she was not feeling well.

The Voice News  – Kelly Clarkson Thanks Kelsea Ballerini

Clarkson Tweeted, “Thank you so much @KelseaBallerini for sitting in for me while I was feeling under the weather!”

“I know my team is in great hands with you!! Y’all aren’t going to want to miss this!! The battles start next week on @NBCTheVoice! #TeamKelly #TheVoice,” she added.

When Ballerini accepted the offer, Clarkson joked, “Just pretend I’m Kelly. Hey Blake, have I ever told you that you look like my dad?”

The Voice News – Kelsea Ballerini Shares How She Got The Offer

In an interview with ET, Ballerini shared how she was informed of the last-minute change. She was home in Nashville when she received a text message from Kelly at around 9 p.m.

It read, “Hey, girl… I’m not feeling well. I don’t have COVID, but with the protocols, don’t feel safe going to set, could you cover the Battle Rounds for me?”

She accepted the offer and flew to Los Angeles right away so she could start filming the next day.

“So I got on the plane, studied everything, and watched everything. Landed, hair and makeup, set, said hi to Nick Jonas and John Legend and Blake Shelton, got in Kelly’s seat and said, ‘Fake it til you make it!’” she recalled.

Even though Kelly Clarkson wasn’t on set, she still managed to help Ballerini out. She was watching the livestream of the Battle Rounds and she texted her notes to Ballerini. The latter noted that it included “picking on Blake the whole time.”

Ballerini said that everything happened so fast, which she considered a blessing. Because if she knew about it early on, she’ll end up feeling so nervous and anxious. It was a good thing that she “didn’t have time to get nervous.” “I really liked sitting in the seat, I’m not gonna lie,” she added.

This is not Ballerini’s first stint on “The Voice.” Fans may recall her during the show’s season 15 when she was the fifth coach. She also appeared in the 16th season as Clarkson’s celebrity mentor.
