Vanderpump Rules (VPR) alum James Kennedy is a controversial character from the old cast of the Bravo show, but this week, the man with sobriety issues found a lot of love when he shared his pup, Hippie, on social media.
Bad Press In Recent Months
It seems that it takes an innocent animal to warm the hearts of fans. Remember, bad press went the way of James when he shared a selfie of himself with Andrew and Tristan Tate in Las Vegas. He got backlash for that, especially as it came just months after his arrest for alleged assault on his girlfriend, Ally Lewber.
Before the huge Scandoval drama with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, Kennedy took heat for breaking off their engagement. Remember, when it all went down, she kept their pup, Graham, now known as Hippie.
When Leviss went to a health facility, her parents handed Graham over to Lisa Vanderpump’s rescue after reported biting incidents, and fans of VPR saw James officially reunite with the pup.
Rachel Leviss claimed that James wasn’t the best person to be a dog dad, but before the drama with Ally Lewber, she denied he was a bad person with animals.
Reunited, Hippie & Dad Get Best Wishes
On April 1, James Kennedy took to his Instagram account and shared several photos of the pup. In his caption, the Bravo alum wrote, “It’s my BEST FRIENDS BIRTHDAY! everyone wish Hippie the Happiest of birthdays! Love you boy, forever!” adding, “thanks for taking care of me…”

Fans were quick to wish the little Goldendoodle everything of the best on his birthday. However, others talked about James Kennedy as well. One of them wrote, “Happiest of birthdays! Glad u got him back!”
Another follower also loved that idea, writing, “Happy birthday Hippie! So glad you are back where you belong!”
Here are a few more comments:
- Happy Birthday, Hippie! Warms my heart that you’re finally safe and loved.
- Sweetest baby! The best best friend.
- He is absolutely adorable.
What’s Next For James?
With the cast of Vanderpump Rules being replaced, it’s not clear what James will do as far as TV goes. In December, Ally said they wouldn’t be on The Valley. Season 2, which premieres on April 15, didn’t show him in teasers. However, he might make a guest appearance.
For now, it seems as if he’s simply doing what he does best by being a DJ. Oh, and a dog dad. Are you happy that James reunited with Hippie, who just celebrated a birthday?
