The Valley star Brittany Cartwright claimed that Season 2 would be the most amazing reality TV ever and it will showcase her split from Jax Taylor. Meanwhile, in real life, Jax, who adores their son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, seems to have surrendered any custody rights.
Jax Taylor Files Divorce & Custody Papers
Brittany Cartwright only filed for divorce near the end of August, and the couple separated in January of 2024. Her ex claimed their separation date as the same date he filed his response — September 20. Notably, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup pointed out that he filed his response by himself, without the help of an attorney.
In his filing, the Bravo star didn’t contest that their split was about “irreconcilable differences.” However, Jax Taylor did supply some conflicting information. The outlet cited him as “checking a box… labeled “Legal Grounds,” which denotes “that the parties were never married or registered a domestic partnership.” Huh? Is he playing delaying games?
The Valley Star Has No Contest On Custody Of Cruz?
Interestingly, the bad boy of The Valley was always besotted with their son, Cruz. In her filing, Brittany Cartwright was happy to arrange visitation rights. However, her husband who revealed that he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and PTSD, agreed on an incredible clause. He agreed to “give Brittany both legal and physical custody of their son Cruz.”
Notably, the Bravo star, who moved into another apartment also didn’t ask for visitation rights, which seems inexplicable to The Valley fans. The Ashley’s sourced their information from court documents posted by u/bellalugosi on Reddit.
While it looks like Jax Taylor filled in the documents, with the internet, there’s always room for a teeny-tiny bit of doubt.
Bravo Fans Discuss The Filing
The Valley fans who saw the post came up with some reactions after the OP wrote:
Jax’s response to the divorce. He gave her full physical and legal custody.
One unimpressed person in the discussion said about Jax Taylor, “He is so so stupid. As someone who has worked in domestic law for 13 years he’s the exact type of person who thinks he can do it all himself to “save money.” Then he gets the case so [messed up] he has to hire an attorney to fix it and pays a crazy amount of money to do so…”
More comments followed. Here are a few of them:
- He also claims Cruz, who was born in 2021, lived with Brittany starting in 2019 (to present??!!)…
- I’m also very interested in his selection for child support. Does he think if he doesn’t have any type of custody of the child that he won’t have to pay?
- As a family law attorney, I am not at all shocked that Jax is proceeding pro se (without a lawyer) and f–d up this paperwork in every way possible.
What are your thoughts about the filing that Jax Taylor did regarding custody rights, their date of separation, and a hint that they never legally married? Should Brittany Cartwright’s ex get an attorney to help him? Or, is he ticking the wrong boxes to delay the divorce?
