Jenelle Evans Critics Question Motives Behind Jace’s Commitment

Teen Mom fans heard some very sad news about Jenelle Evans and her eldest son, Jace. Probably, you already heard from multiple outlets that he’s been admitted to a mental health facility. But online, fans who follow Jenelle wonder about the real motivation for it. Read on to find out more.

A Troubled Teen Report

TMZ reported that Jace Evans was back with his grandma, Barbara Evans in North Carolina. Remember, he’d clashed with his mom in Las Vegas, lived with his biological dad for a bit, and ended up back with Barbara, who previously surrendered custody to Jenelle.

Their report claimed that a 911 call arrived regarding a “troubled teen disturbance” at the home of Barb. Actually, the report seemed mainly factual and not based on speculation.

Jenelle Accused Of Selling The Story

When The Ashley’s Reality Roundup wrote it up, they cited a source, Jenelle’s sister, who claimed anger about it. Allegedly, Jenelle sold the story to the media. Plus, it suggested that the motivation might not have simply been concern for her troubled son.

Of course, many MTV fans speculate on what really happened. After all, it strongly seems that recently, Jenelle and David Eason might have gotten back together. Could that be at the bottom of it? Remember, Jace accused David of assault at one stage.

David & Jenelle Reunited

Jace has a documented history of trauma involving Eason, who faces felony charges of child abuse. Additionally, claims of assault arrived that involved alleged strangulation in an attack of the young teen back in 2023.

According to insiders, Jace didn’t hear the reunion news from his mom, but read about it online. The Ashley’s cited their source as saying, “He flipped out,” and “He had every right to get upset that his mom is back with the man she promised… she’d never go back to.”

Difficult So Dumped?

On Reddit, many Teen Mom fans suspect the worst about Jenelle Evans’ motives. After all, if Jace melted down because of her reunion with David, did she just try and get the 16-year-old out of the way?

Admittedly, there were previous issues with Jace who shared texts last year, claiming his mom mistreated him and clearly labeled her crazy. Once again, he raised the subject of his abuse claims against David. And more than once,  Jenelle claimed he went berserk and wrecked the place. 

Naturally, MTV fans dig deep and discuss the whole sad affair on social media. One Redditor penned:

She’s BEEN threatening him with forced institutionalization. Weaponizing it against your son to get back with your abusive ex is the lowest of the low.

Not So Simple?

However, it might not be so simple. One person opined, “You can’t just call up the cops and get someone committed from several states away without something extreme happening. Barb would likely have to be on board too.”

Interestingly, that sentiment seemed backed up by someone claiming they were a former psych evaluator. They said that it’s not easy to just dump a child in a mental institution. They added, “I had parents try this sh**t and CPS had to get involved bc the child did not meet criteria for hospitalization.”

The Assault Case Hasn’t Gone Away

Some MTV critics think that sticking Jace away somewhere not easy to get out of, ties into the ongoing legal case against David. It sort of died away, but the legal wheels still grind along slowly.

In fact in mid-February, about the time David and Jenelle hooked up again, attorneys and prosecutors met in the judge’s chambers to discuss the case, indicating possible plea negotiations. No trial date was set, and Jace may be called to testify against Eason.

The Real Motivation Questioned

Right now, the various reports fire up the idea that testifying against David might have triggered Jace’s meltdown, and Jenelle Evans’ committing him.

Was it, folks ask, a necessary intervention for a traumatized teen? Or was it an attempt by Jenelle to silence her son?
