A previously sealed court document which includes quotes the Counting On alum Jill Duggar gave to a psychologist as part of her 2017 lawsuit against the City of Springdale and Washington County officials in Arkansas was obtained.
In the November 2021 filing, Jill Duggar was cited saying that her relationship with her father Jim Bob Duggar “got pretty toxic” after she and her husband, Derick Dillard, began making family decisions that were not in alignment with her dad’s opinions.
“I saw a whole new side to my dad once my husband and I started making decision that were best for our family, but not in his best interest,” Jill told the psychologist, according to the filing. “Sadly, I realized he had become pretty controlling, fearful and reactionary.”
Jill claimed that Jim Bob was “verbally abusive” at times, Jill described her relationship with Jim Bob as “not good.” She explained that there was no improvement whatsoever in the situation, as being in Jim Bob’s presence these days “isn’t good for my mental health,” though she noted that she still hopes the relationship can be “restored” someday. “There are just too many triggers and stuff for me to have to process after being around him,” Jill said.
The legal filing also stated that Jill’s claims were supported by her husband Derick, who had said in a deposition that Jim Bob did not approve of his daughter having a nose ring, drinking alcohol, or wearing pants.
Jill Duggar — About The First Lawsuit That Was Filed
Back in 2015, the shocking news about Jim Bob’s eldest son Josh Duggar molesting five young girls, four of whom were his sisters, came with a force. Unfortunately, rather than the girls’ parents protecting their daughters after such revelation, they were more concerned with taking it out on the people who leaked the information.
The sisters; Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy-Anna Duggar filed a lawsuit against the police department of Springdale, Arkansas, alleging that the cops had violated their right to privacy by releasing Josh’s arrest record.
In February, after years of legal wrangling, a judge ruled in favor of the police, and the Duggar sisters’ suit was dismissed.

Jill Duggar — Derick Accused Jill’s Dad Of Stealing From His Children
Jill stopped associating with her parents in 2019, and it looks like she’s had only limited contact with them in the years since. Around that same time, Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, accused Jim Bob of stealing millions from his own children by pocketing their TLC earnings.
In addition to the allegations from Jill, Jim Bob’s eldest son, Josh Duggar, was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography. He is currently locked up in an Arkansas jail where he awaits sentencing.
Josh could receive up to 20 years in a federal penitentiary.
