Chrisley Knows Best alum Julie Chrisley appeals her seven-year sentence for fraud, claiming the judge was too “harsh” after her original sentence was vacated. Read on for more information about the former USA Network star’s argument against the court’s finding.
USA Network Alum Julie Chrisley Resentenced
Chrisley Knows Best alums, Todd Chrisley and his spouse faced allegations of defrauding community banks out of over $30 million through fraudulent loans. A few months ago, the 11th Circuit vacated Julie’s fraud sentence and mandated re-sentencing, finding no independent evidence linking her to losses before 2007. This led her to expect a sentence reduction, but her original sentence was upheld, resulting in her return to prison.
Julie Chrisley’s attorney, Alex Little, seemed shocked when the judge upheld his client’s original sentence. Meanwhile, her daughter, Savannah, was equally shocked and claimed the judge personally attacked her. So, many USA Network fans started to believe the judge was acting out of personal bias. Now, the resentencing has also been appealed.
Chrisley Knows Best Alum Appeals Again
WSBTV reported that the USA Network star’s legal team had a short filing to appeal the resentencing of their client. In their opinion, the judge acted in a “harsh and “unreasonable” way. Well, it shouldn’t have been a big shock, as ahead of the hearing, prosecutors wanted to hit with her to the fullest extent of the law.
Julie Chrisley not only got her original sentence upheld, but her probation period increased by two years. So, her many fans might agree that the sentence was overly harsh. However, it doesn’t matter what fans think. It all comes down to the judges at the appeals court.
Not Passing ‘The Sniff Test’?
When Alex Little expressed his shock about the resenting, he claimed that the arguments by the judge did not “pass the sniff test” for Julie Chrisley. And, when ET reported about it, many fans of the show agreed with him. Some people even suspected the judge might even lose their job. However, that seems like wishful thinking.
Meanwhile, many people believe that the USA Network couple should just get on with it and serve their time. Julie Chrisley, many detractors believe, feels entitled to serve less time than other white-collar criminals. And, they slam Savannah’s fight to claim her mom’s innocence.
