Kaitlyn Bristowe’s crime was accepting the offer to be a co-host of Bachelorette, and that cost her her friendship with former Bachelorette host Chris Harrison.
Chris Harrison who relieved himself of his duties as host of the show in 2021 after photos of his comments supporting former contestant Rachael Kirkconnell for attending a plantation-themed sorority party in 2018 resurfaced, was apparently unhappy that his replacement would be his good friend Kaitlyn.
In his exit statement which he uploaded on his Instagram, Chris said, “I’ve had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor franchise and now I’m excited to start a new chapter. I’m so grateful to Bachelor Nation for all of the memories we’ve made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapping up, the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime.”
Kaitlyn Bristowe — Kaitlyn Said Chris Snubbed Her Calls
According to the winner of “Dancing With The Stars” season 29, she was asked to co-host season 17 of The Bachelorette—Katie Thurston’s with her fellow former contestant Tayshia Adams. But, after she accepted the offer, news started making rounds that she was Chris’ replacement.
Speaking on the Dear Media’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast on January 31, Kaitlyn said, “They offered me the position to come in, and what the Bachelor franchise said was to mentor Katie. I wouldn’t be replacing Chris. Then, all these articles starting coming out saying, ‘Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe Replacing Chris Harrison.'”
In the bid to clear the air, Kaitlyn reached out to her friend who has hosted the show for a total of 19 years before he left. Kaitlyn said she tried to contact Chris about ten times but was snubbed. “I messaged him like 10 times without him responding,” said Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn Bristowe – Was Supposed To Be Mentored
“And that is so not like him to me. And I know it’s not about me. I just wanted him to know that I thought he was irreplaceable, and I didn’t want to step on toes.”
She went on to share how she kept texting Chris to explain that she wasn’t going to replace him but his silence on her made her feel “icky” to the extent that she feared Chris, 51, hated her. “He didn’t write back and then I was like, ‘OK, well now I’m panicking. Why didn’t you write me back?’ And then he didn’t write me back and I was like, ‘I’m on my period. Am I being emotional? But, like, do you hate me?'”
She finally added, “I was like okay, he hates me. We were best friends and now he hates me.”
Kaitlyn Bristowe — Kaitlyn Was Also Replaced By Jesse Palmer
Kaitlyn went on to say that after being ghosted for long by Chris, she finally got to see him at the wedding of Bachelor fixture Wells Adams and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland. She recalled approaching him, “and I walked up to him and was like?, ‘I miss you.'”
Kaitlyn admitted her surprise when all Chris said was, “Well, I’ve always been here,” to which Kaitlyn replied, “No you haven’t! You haven’t responded to me in forever!” Kaitlyn said that afterwards, “I bawled my eyes out about it. That friendship just felt like it went down the toilet.”
Meanwhile, Kaitlyn was privileged to co-host Katie Thurston and Mitchell Young’s season of the bachelorette but she was replaced with her fellow bachelor, Jesse Palmer who is still the current host of the show. Kaitlyn was on tour with “Dancing With The Stars” when she got her replacement call. She was pained that her run with the show wasn’t on a permanent basis.
