Katie Thurston Is Grateful Her Cancer Journey Reaches Others

Former Bachelorette, Katie Thurston, 34, broke the news about her breast cancer diagnosis just months after her engagement to Jeff Arcuri. Obviously, it’s a worrying time for the ABC star, but she does at least feel grateful that her social media platform allows her to reach other women during her difficult journey.

Reaching Others Brings Awareness

In mid-February, she wrote on Instagram, “I experienced a range of emotions over the past two weeks. Despair. Anger. Sadness. Denial. And then strength. Purposeful. Ready. I cried a lot…”

Of course, Bachelorette fans reached out to her. But, Katie Thurston also mentioned how stories by other influential cancer sufferers made her feel a bit better about herself. So, she’s sharing her experiences as well. Awareness is super important, after all. 

Cancer Is A Good Fit For The TV Star?

On March 1, TV Shows Ace reported that they spotted some stories by Katie where she once again shared about sharing her journey. The outlet cited her as saying, “Cancer is now my full time job…But also I, in a weird way, feel like the right person to have it.”

With 720K followers on Instagram, that’s a lot of people who might benefit from hearing about breast cancer from the ABC star. Her profile shows that she’s in New York now. Previously, Katie mentioned how she moved there to be with Jeff Arcuri who supports her as she goes for treatment.

The Reality TV Star Has A Purpose

Cancer has a way of concentrating the mind, and for The Bachelorette, it brought stress, worry, fear, and all the usual reactions. However, she seems to find a new purpose in life in her mission to spread cancer awareness. 

Apart from social media, Katie Thurston is generating a lot of chatter about cancer because other influencers post articles about her on places like YouTube. Over 21 videos went up already if you count the shorts.

A Strong Character Helps

Katie’s a fighter, and Bachelor Nation fans know that she’s a strong personality. When she starred in Matt James‘ Bachelor, she called out others for bullying tactics. Selected for 17 of The Bachelorette, she found more support.

One regret by ABC fans is that her engagement to Blake Moynes fell apart. But, as he travels so much, he might not have been the best partner now, while she needs support from loved ones.
