Suitcase Killer – The Melanie McGuire Story on Lifetime
Back in 2005, Melanie McQuire was arrested for the murder of her husband. She was further convicted in 2007 of desecration of human remains after she dismembered her husband’s body. She packed the pieces of his body into a number of suitcases, dumping them off a bridge in 2004. An upcoming movie Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story will be released on Lifetime and follows the real-life case.
McGuire was a former fertility nurse and mother of two children from Woodbridge. According to prosecutors, she started a relationship with a doctor at the clinic where she worked. In the trial, the prosecutors accused McGuire of killing her husband, 39, in their Woodbridge home so that she could be with the doctor. She drugged and then shot her husband, William McGuire. The court found her guilty of dismembering his body with a power saw and packing it into three cases that ended up in the Chesapeake Bay.
\McGuire, 49, is serving a life sentence at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton. She maintains that she is not guilty and has unsuccessfully tried to appeal her conviction.
