Lindsie Chrisley Remembers The Devastating Thing A Stranger Said About Her Family

It’s hard being a popular family, and it’s harder being a popular family associated with a bad thing. For the Chrisley family, their parents’ arrest for tax evasion opened the door for one and all to voice their opinions on that head.

As Kyle Chrisley quoted, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”

Lindsie Chrisley – On Her Mental Health Following Her Parents’ Arrest

In June, Todd Chrisley was found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion and was sentenced to prison for 12 years, while wife Julie Chrisley received seven years in prison.

At the time of the arrest, Lindsie, 33, and her siblings reacted to it in their own way, with Lindsie writing: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Her biblical post was accompanied by the popular Hillsong music “Who You Say I Am”.

Recently, Lindsie also opened up about how her parents’ sentencing affected her mental health. She also attributed the reason she’s not doing fine mentally to the public scrutiny she’s had to witness regarding her parents’ arrest.

Lindsie Chrisley – Recalls Finding The Strength To Stand Up To A Bystander’s Negative Comments About Her Parents

The reality star appeared on an episode of “Coffee and Convos” with Kail Lowry and talked about a public moment that left her “heartbroken and devastated.”

She recalled taking her 7-year-old son Jackson for a dinner with friends. Once there, instead of having a good time, her mood was ruined by a woman who was loudly discussing her parents’ trial for evading taxes. According to Lindsie, said woman even turned and pointed at her, telling her husband, “That’s one of them.”

“I hang my head because I’m not going to engage like this,” she said on the podcast. “My parents were just sentenced the day before. I’m heartbroken and devastated. I’m just trying to get pizza and take my kid to a place where he can go and play games and it is like a quiet, little, private place, a local little restaurant.”

After the persecution from the lady didn’t stop as quickly as she wanted it to, she had to gather the strength to tell her to respect the presence of her child.

“I finally picked my head up and said, ‘If you please, would save the conversation for somewhere else because I am their child, we’re a real family and this is their grandchild that’s sitting right there,'” Lindsie said.

Lindsie also spoke about coping with her parents’ sentencing on her podcast, “The Southern Tea.”

“I will say that my worst times of day are in the morning when I first wake up, and at night when I go to bed because those are the two times that I’m alone, and I’m just like, alone there in my thoughts,” she explained. “I can’t help but think it’s almost like a countdown, I guess, because the time is limited. So that has been really, really hard.”

“[I’ve been] being in my Bible, staying faithful to church, being around people that genuinely make me happy, focusing on the things that I can control and not focusing on the things that I can’t,” she said of her coping mechanisms.
