Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) star Jennifer Tilly was first nominated as a friend of the Bravo show in Season 13. Sutton Stracke got her way and the Season 14 star recently dropped a huge hint that very little that Bravo viewers see is real.
RHOBH Drama Is Not Always Real
Reality TV, as many people know, is not completely real. The people are real, but the scenes that play out often seem badly acted. The difference with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is that so many of the cast have professional acting experience. So, perhaps it’s not so noticeable that a lot of editing goes on.
Bravo is famous for The Real Housewives franchise which brings wealthy people into contact with each other. There, they do things most real housewives can only dream of. Fantastic vacations, wonderful dinner parties, and more take place. And always, there’s drama. But, is that the case in real life? Not according to Jennifer Tilly, known for Broadway and horror movies.
Jennifer Tilly Outs Manufactured Editing
Speaking with Vulture recently, the actress was quick to almost admire the editing done for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In fact, she compared it to acting in a movie. Admittedly, it’s not a scripted movie where they learn lines, but the reality allegedly isn’t what RHOBH fans ultimately see on Bravo.
Jennifer Tilly told the outlet:
…To me, being on Housewives is experiencing zero gravity. You come in without a script. It’s just sort of like they just wade in there, and they go at it. [The production team] can do anything. They can make you the girl next door, they can make you the villain. They can make you the cranky one, they can make you the patient one. It depends on what they want to show, what’s going to make the story.
As for the rest of the cast and the editors, she said that they can literally spin “a storyline out of thin air.”
It seems interesting that out of a long and challenging career in front of audiences and cameras, she described working on RHOBH as one of the “craziest” things she’s “ever done.” As for the rest of the cast, she does not hate any of them and admires the effort they put into bringing the reality TV show to television. Jennifer Tilly explained, ” I’m really happy I’m doing it, and I think it’s such an interesting kind of sharp left turn for my career.”
What are your thoughts about Jennifer Tilly claiming there is so much editing that they can make a drama out of literally nothing notable? Sound off in the comments below, and come back here often for all your Real Housewives of Beverly Hills news.
