Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) alum, Tom Giradri attended a court hearing this week, where his mental competency was under scrutiny. Recall he was accused of allegedly embezzling millions of dollars from clients. The former attorney ended up disbarred in 2018, and charges were brought against him in 2019.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – Erika Jayne & Tom Girardi Divorced
Bravo fans noticed that Erika Jayne distanced herself after the charges came to light. In fact, she filed for a divorce. However, that didn’t save her from being served papers for a $50 million lawsuit. That happened when she flew to Hawaii with her friend, Lisa Rinna. At one stage, fans thought the show pushed the presumed dementia of Tom too far. Remember, he apparently saw off a burglar but couldn’t recall specifics.
RHOBH fans heard that Erika Jayne and her lawyer husband Tom Girardi faced a class action lawsuit for allegedly defrauding families who lost loved ones in the 2018 Lion Air plane crash. Naturally, after they had survived 21 years as a married couple, plenty of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans thought she only divorced him to secure their assets. Then in 2020, Tom told the court that he was broke.
RHOBH – Mental Competency Of Tom Girardi
Since the original scandal, it seems that Tom got worse with dementia. Anyway, this week, he had to attend a hearing so doctors could check out his claims of not being mentally healthy. Page Six reported that “Girardi was diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in March 2021, and his brother, Robert Girardi, was appointed his permanent conservator as a result.”
The former RHOBH star didn’t look too bad as he held his female lawyer’s hand on the way into court. So, when @bravohousewives shared the story on Instagram, some Bravo fans didn’t feel very sorry for the 84-year-old. One of them wrote, “Funny how that Alzheimer’s kicked in when it was time to pay his bills.”
Bravo – Fans Comment
Some RHOBH fans think Tom Girardi should face the music even if he’s suffering from dementia. One of them argued, “He’s not competent now, but it was prior when he was stealing from clients. I feel he should still be held accountable for his prior crimes.”
Meanwhile, another follower said, “Who cares ??? When he defrauded people, he was healthy.
He should be behind bars.”
At least there were some people who felt bad about seeing the old man walking into court. One of them wrote, “So very sad. He looks awful (sic). Shame Erika just abandoned him. He may have done wrong but others at the firm also did too. I wish no one bad health.”
