Influencer Rolling Ray, whose real name was Raymond Harper, passed away aged just 28. Days before he turned 29, his mom shared the news on social media. You might remember Rolling Ray from MTV’s Catfish: Trolls and The Conversation: Bobby Lytes & Rolling Ray.
Raymond Was In A Wheelchair
Ray was in a wheelchair for most of his life, but that didn’t stop him from influencing the lives of others. Cheerful despite his physical challenges that happened in his childhood, he said on his social media that he’s “the most famous boy in a wheelchair.”

As the TV star and influencer also helped to produce Zeus Network’s 2022 LGBTQ+ reality dating show, Bobby I Love You, Purrr, Pink News reminded fans that he once coined the phrase “Purrr” in an early viral video.
The Death Of The Popular Star
The news about the passing of Rolling Ray arrived on Facebook via his mom, Shazola Nay. Later, it was deleted, but other family members shared the news as well. Additionally, plenty of fans shared about it on social media.
One post on X by @voxlines confirmed his death, calling him a “legend.” They also showed the original message shared by his mom. She said:
It is with a heavy heavy heart that I let you all know that my son Ray Ray iamrollingray has gone home to be with the Lord…. I thank everyone who has called or texted, this is going to be a long road… Please pray for us as we push forward to lay him to rest… Only God knows…
Fans Pay Tribute
In the comments area, plenty of people remembered Raymond Harper and paid their tributes to his courage. One of them penned, “irst bktidalwave now rolling ray like we’re losing our legends…”
Others hoped it wasn’t true, but unfortunately, it was. Here are a few more reactions:
- Oh bi**h you are lying to meeeee!!!!!!
- I just fell to the floor…we lost an icon…this is so upsetting.
- I can’t believe the legends rolling ray is gone… RIP.
- Wow he was young too.
- this is insane….
- Sending deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
- Rest in peace, Ray Ray. Your legacy of laughter, resilience, and representation lives on.
Some folks referred to Rolling Ray as “she.” However, although he was very active within the LGBTQ community, he always referred to himself as a male on social media, and so did his mom. To many folks, it doesn’t matter about his gender identity right now. What matters is that another influencer has gone way too young.
